Navigate a large canvas and choose your tools

A growing board becomes easier to use when you can move between an overview and one working area without disturbing its contents. Learn the zoom controls, mouse and trackpad modes, the dock orientation and the Elements list. These controls help you find and inspect objects; project access still determines which resources you can open and edit.

In this guide
  1. Find the whole board
  2. Return to a reliable reading scale
  3. Match navigation to your device
  4. Find an object through Elements
  5. Keep useful tools within reach

01

Find the whole board

Click Fit view in the zoom toolbar. On a compact board, the view adjusts to include its objects. When distant collections of objects produce a choice of groups, choose the relevant group or the all-objects option. Then use Zoom in and Zoom out to move between the overall arrangement and the particular section you want to work on.

02

Return to a reliable reading scale

Click the displayed zoom percentage to use Zoom to 100%. Check headings, note text and connector labels at that scale before deciding whether to enlarge an object. Use Enter Fullscreen when you need more room for inspection, then leave with Escape or Exit Fullscreen. Fullscreen changes the available viewing space; it does not turn the board into a presentation deck.

03

Match navigation to your device

Use the input-mode control to cycle through Auto-detect, Mouse mode and Trackpad mode. In Mouse mode, the wheel zooms and right-click dragging pans. In Trackpad mode, pinch to zoom and swipe with two fingers to pan. Test a short movement on an empty area and choose the mode that gives predictable navigation on your device.

04

Find an object through Elements

Open Elements on the right rail and expand the layer containing your object. Click an object row to select it; double-click the row to focus the view on that object. This is useful when a small shape is hard to find on a busy board. A hidden or locked layer affects interaction, so inspect the layer controls before trying to edit.

05

Keep useful tools within reach

Use Toggle Dock Orientation to move the dock between the bottom and left side. Open the tools browser when a tool is absent from your current dock, and use Keyboard Shortcuts to inspect the available commands. Lock Flow can temporarily prevent changes while you inspect the board; return to Unlock Flow before moving or editing objects again.

What you will have

You can recover the overview, inspect individual objects and navigate comfortably with your device. The dock and Elements list now support the way you work on the board.
