Inspect history before restoring a page

Understand what changed before bringing back earlier writing. Start by checking the saved versions available to your workspace, compare the relevant passages and inspect the result before confirming a restore. When no versions are available, keep a copy of the current page using the export controls.

In the appFocus mode → Document tools → Version history

What you’ll learn

  • Check whether your workspace exposes saved versions.
  • Read the direction and limits of the comparison.
  • Restore deliberately and verify the result.

In this guide
  1. Check what this history screen contains
  2. Choose the two sides of the comparison
  3. Read the changes and their limits
  4. Restore the selected baseline deliberately
  5. Verify the restored writing and preserve a copy

01

Check what this history screen contains

Open Version history from Document tools. If it says No saved versions are available yet, there is nothing to select or restore here. The current live workspace does not populate this selector. There is no public in-app switch to device mode. Use Copy Markdown or Print / PDF to keep the current writing; the remaining steps apply when local saved versions are present.

02

Choose the two sides of the comparison

When versions are available, use From to select an earlier saved timestamp and revision. Leave Compare with on Current page to understand changes since that point, or select another saved revision for a historical comparison. Read both selectors before interpreting the colours: the first side is the baseline, and the second side is the version being compared against it.

03

Read the changes and their limits

The difference view marks added lines with + and removed lines with −. A changed title appears separately, and changed page details receive their own notice. Read nearby unchanged lines to understand the meaning of a deletion. If text is unchanged but formatting, media or layout differs, the panel says so; this textual comparison is not a full visual rendering of both pages.

04

Restore the selected baseline deliberately

Before restoring, copy any current passage you still need elsewhere. Restore this version applies to the version selected under From, even if Compare with displays another historical version. Choose Restore this version, read the confirmation that the current saved page remains in history, and select Confirm restore. Cancel returns to inspection without applying the selected version to the current page.

05

Verify the restored writing and preserve a copy

Return to the editor and check the title, key paragraphs, references and readiness details against the intended version. Wait for the visible save feedback before leaving. Local history keeps up to 50 versions per page within a shared 1 MB history budget, so old entries can disappear. Export writing you need to retain beyond that local window instead of treating the selector as a permanent archive.

What you will have

A checked recovery path that uses only available versions and keeps the storage limits visible.
